A New Era!

IMPORTANT Mr & Mrs Brown of Henderland Cottage have severed all links with the angling club, please do not contact them regarding any aspect of the fishing! Please Email us or phone our loch keeper details below. Anglers are reminded that permits for the fishing are available from The Glen Cafe, The Gordon Arms Hotel, The Tibbie Shiels Inn and Cast Around in Peebles. Our new loch keeper is Mr Peter Kokot Glengaber Cottage Cappercleuch phone 01750 423290/07907531605 permits and boats are available here.
It’s been a very hectic week at the lochs finalising the new arrangements for permit sales/boat hire. Our boats are available from the Glen Cafe and the Tibbie Shiels Inn and now also from our new loch keeper.

The executive committee met at the Tibbie Shiels Inn on Wednesday to discuss the vacancy of loch keeper and later in the evening we interviewed and and are pleased to announce subsequently appointed Mr Piotr (Peter) Kokot to the position of loch keeper for St Marys Angling Club.
Peter is a Polish national who has been resident in the area for a good number of years and comes highly recommended by the local community. We were impressed by his dual language capability which we feel will be of great help to us when dealing with eastern European as well as indigenous anglers. His pre-existing relationships with the community will serve us well

He is also a point of contact for permit sales and boat hire, his contact details are as follows
Glengaber Cottage, Cappercleuch, Selkirkshire, TD7 5LQ, phone 01750423290 or mobile 07907531605.
To get to this location drive halfway along St Marys loch and take the turn off for Tweedsmuir/Megget where the AA box is situated, head up the road past our old outlet @ Henderland cottage for approx 1 mile and as soon as you can see the Chrome sign for Megget Dam the cottage on your right is Glengaber cottage.
Peter is currently undergoing the vetting process by Disclosure Scotland and on successful completion will be appointed as a Scottish Office Warden and will join a team of three others.

Peter brings with him a vibrant and enthusiastic approach which can only bode well for the future of the lochs. Peter will be able to accommodate those anglers looking for an early start, just give him a call and make your arrangements. This is part of a new and improved service that we are offering anglers and doubtless you will meet Peter on your next visit! We now look forward to a long and fruitful association with Peter.

The feedback received from anglers suggests that the transition from our old arrangements to the current set up has been acceptable in that only a few anglers have been inconvenienced. We would like to thank all anglers for their patience and particularly those who did have to put up with some inconvenience. We now look forward to a period of continued and efficient operation as we move the club forward.
Members and season ticket holders are reminded to have their membership/season ticket cards with them at all times when fishing on the lochs.

Apologies to all who have had difficulty in contacting me on 07980350031 the Orange signal at home is intermittent, please try me on 01896 752337 or E mail cheers Richard.
